The development came as Trump had a long phone call with Putin on Thursday, ahead of a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday.
As per some reports, the phone call came as the Trump administration was mulling over supplying dangerous Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, which would provide them with the ability to strike deep in Russian territories.
